About the Event

The health and climate interface has been a hot topic amongst environmentalists for decades, but Covid-19 has thrown it fully into the spotlight. Questions around the next "big thing" to threaten human health have been coming thick and fast. But did you know that the healthcare sector is responsible for 4% of global emissions - thats more than aviation and shipping - plus a host of other potent gases and waste streams, including the obvious single use plastics.
Robert, Jessica and Glen are on a mission to inspire and transform the healthcare sector with a strong view of "first do no harm". This session will explore the context for climate and health, and dig deeper in the industry and its ability to transform at a system level.
- Robert Metzke, Chief of Staff Innovation & Strategy and Head of Sustainability at Philips
- Jessica Wolff, US Director, Climate Change and Health, Health Care Without Harm and Practice Greenhealth
- Glen Garrick, Director of Sustainability, Intermountain Healthcare
- Hosted by Tom Popple, Co-Founder of Climate Cocktail Club; Senior Manager, Natural Capital Partners.
In the spirit of the CCC, there will be an opportunity for you to get involved. So be sure you bring along any questions about healthcare that you’ve always wanted answered. We'll also be gathering you a reading list of the latest research for those that want to dive a little deeper. To get you started here's a recent feature from Robert at WEF.
