Time & Location

The Sugar Club, 8 Leeson Street Lower, Saint Kevin's, Dublin 2, Co. Dublin, D02 ET97, Ireland
About the event
What do you call a snowman if we miss the Paris Agreement?... Water. Thankfully you won't have (too many) of our dad jokes to keep you company during the Christmas Cracker, but you will have renowned Scottish comedian and climate scientist Matt Winning as co-host, alongside a stellar line-up of climate connectors... and a special Christmas present for all (and something extra for the first 40 people who arrive. Ho Ho Ho!).
DETAILS
Join us for an evening exploring what connecting on climate action is really about. From the wet-your-pants laughs to the awkward silences, to the cold dark truths and radical calls to action, to emotional and empathetic as vehicles for bottom-up engagement. The return of the Climate Cocktail Club Christmas Cracker is a milestone that looked all too distant during the depths of Covid. BUT NO... we are back and stronger than ever.
The event will kick off with Matt providing us a colourful comedic journey through climate science in his stand-up show. Followed up by the feature presentation and fireside chat (streamed live from the US) with the renowned climate scientist, thought-leader and Executive Director of Project Drawdown Jonathan Foley (of which our own Tom Popple is an embarrassing super-fan). Matt will lead the chat with Jon and bring the life the leading work of Project Drawdown, Jon and urgent calls to action. We then explore the "Good Life" with reimagination radical Laura Costello of THINKHOUSE, showcasing their campaign, inspired by conversations with citizens across Ireland, promoting a vision of well-being focused on connection rather than consumption. Closing with a Crappy Christmas Climate Pub Quiz, pitching the Clubbers against each other for a special prize.
