Climate Cast #1 - What does the Covid-19 crisis mean for climate change?
We’re not letting lockdown lessen our Climate Cocktail Club efforts: so we’re bringing the community together through this quarantined edition. Join us with a cocktail/mocktail in hand to hear from leading experts about what lessons we could take from the covid-19 crisis for tackling climate change.
Time & Location
29 Apr 2020, 18:30 – 19:30 GMT+1
About the event
Join the livestream at either of the following:
You’ll hear from:
- Elizabeth Sawin, co-director of US-based NGO Climate Interactive. She has been writing (here) about how "the public is coming to understand that... if you wait until you can see the impact, it is too late to stop it".
- Kingsmill Bond, energy strategist at UK-based NGO Carbon Tracker. This financial market strategist has been looking at what the recent oil price changes mean for the fossil fuel industry arguing (here) that: "The virus will bring forward peak demand for fossil fuels... that means that peak emissions was almost certainly 2019, and perhaps peak fossil fuels as well."
After some Q&A with Clubbers, we will wrap up with a contribution from JC Coccoli. JC is an American comedian, writer and producer. Last year, after driving across the US in an electric car for an Amazon Prime docu-series The New American Road Trip, she was asked to speak at the United Nations about the experience and how comedy and culture can influence policy.
We are grateful to fincovi, our partner for this Climate Cocktail Club. Powered by experts and technology fincovi is changing the renewable energy investment game.
Clubbers will be sent cocktail and mocktail recipe suggestions by our cocktail partner, Pernod Ricard UK. Pernod Ricard UK are proud to manage a prestigious portfolio of internationally recognised brands, of which 19 are counted amongst the global top 100 amongst the wine and spirits brands.
See you online!
